3 Sneaky Foods That Make You Fat

Obesity is one of those lifestyle health hazards that is easily reversible. In fact, an overweight person can significantly reduce heart disease risk simply by cutting her weight by five to 10 percent!

BEWARE OF THESE FOODS!

SALT
A high sodium diet not only raises your blood pressure, leading to potential heart attacks and stroke. Salt can also make you fat by changing the way your body makes and metabolizes fat. Insulin production also increases as you eat more salt, and since that is the hormone directing your body to store that excess sugar as fat, that translates into more weight gain.

SOFT DRINKS
It is not only the added sugar in soft drinks that will end up on your hips and put you at risk for diabetes (another heart disease risk factor), but also the treacherous up-sized portions that they come in. Why not go for plain water or a cup of freshly brewed green tea?

Japanese researchers found that those who drank five or more daily cups of green tea had the least risk of death by heart diseases. Tip: Add a squeeze of lemon juice to boost your body’s absorption of green tea’s antioxidants, catechins, by thirteen times!

SOUPY NOODLES
Yes, they are healthier than fried noodles, but they are still filled with calories. “Don’t let excess calories get stored as fat.” Says Dr Robayaah. Carbohydrates are still converted into glucose or blood sugar especially the easily digested carbs from highly-processed rice noodles.

Option for healthier substitutes like whole meal or vegetables based noodles. The fibre they contain cannot be broken down into sugar molecules, and actually help subtract from your calorie intake. Complex “good” carbs, found in brown rice, oats, and whole grain bread, add heart-healthy minerals, while fibre helps lower bad cholesterol.
